When to Call the Doctor After Bypass Surgery

Call your doctor if you have any of these symptoms:

  • Angina, chest pain symptoms like those you felt before surgery (Call 911)

  • Fever  of 100.4˚F (38˚C) or higher

  • Unexplained chills or sweating

  • Shortness of breath or trouble breathing

  • Fast or irregular heartbeat

  • Dizziness or fainting

  • Increasing pain that isn't controlled with medication

  • Swelling, redness, oozing, or cloudy discharge at the incision sites

  • Unexplained bruising or bleeding

  • Continued sensation of motion or clicking sounds in your breastbone

  • Sudden weight gain (5 pounds or more in 1 week)
